Bravo Adventure
December 2-16, 2003

October 21, 2003

The adventure begins with an invitation from Doug Hobson to become one of the crew of three to move his trawler from Columbus, Mississippi to Fort Myers, Florida. I have known Doug and his wife Elaine Trefler for about a quarter century. Doug is an engineer and Elaine an occupational therapist. Originally both from Canada, they were in Memphis, TN when we first became acquainted. They moved to Pittsburgh many years ago where both are now affiliated with the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh.

In 2001 Doug and Elaine took delivery of a 37 foot trawler built for them by Nordic Tugs in the Pacific Northwest. My parents joined me for the christening on June 17 on the Allegheny River to the northeast of Pittsburgh. She is a beautiful vessel. That fall Doug and Elaine departed on a two-year cruising adventure, the Great Loop Route.

Doug and Elaine maintain a web site that contains lots of information on their adventure at http://136.142.142.10/dah2/BRAVO_HP.html.
