Monday morning after Regina's fine breakfast, Ed tooks some pictures.

Then we drove from Hershbergers' home near Congress (left edge of the map) back into Phoenix to the EagleRider motorcycle rental agency, which is actually in Scottsdale.

Barry and Ed had shipped riding gear in advance. Dave had his stuff, together with things accumulated from the conference, in a humongously heavy suitcase. When Barry's process at EagleRider was completed, he drove the car to the airport and taxied back. Dave and Ed were about ready to go by then, but didn't have time to explore the opportunities in the adjacent business.

When Barry was packed, we stashed our things in the EagleRider storage space, fired up and took off. This was not exactly an early start. We headed north, largely retracing the route we had taken from Mahlon and Regina's to EagleRider. We caught AZ 74 west but soon stopped to photograph some of the beautiful flowers and cactus that we had enjoyed on the morning drive.

Motorcycles idle; Cameras active

We found cactus interesting, but don't mess with them.

We continued west on 74 and then took US 60 to AZ 89 which took us within a mile or so of the Hershberger home where we had started the day. Then we began climbing into higher (and cooler elevations), stopping in Yarnell to add clothing. We stopped later to enjoy the view of the mountains. Note the long shadows, indicating that the warmth of the sun was disappearing.

Our original destination for the trip was the south rim of the Grand Canyon and we were thinking that we could get another hour or so beyond Prescott today. However, when we fueled in Prescott, we realized that we'd be cold and in the dark at the next lodging opportunity, so we decided to stay there. We were directed to a great hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurant and then slept well.
